Co-Chairs’ message, Criminal Law Committee April 2025 ebulletin

Tuesday 15 April 2025

Dear Members,

Welcome to the IBA Criminal Law Committee’s first ebulletin of 2025. Many thanks to the contributors – Andrew George, Andrea Puccio, Jean-Luc Putz, Ed Smyth and Rebecca Niblock – and to our Senior Communications Officer, Diana Czugler who, along with her communications sub-committee (Miranda Ching, Margot Laporte, Jean-Luc Putz and Ed Smyth), has driven the publication.

The intention behind the ebulletin is to provide members with a useful and – we hope – interesting resource, covering a range of criminal law issues with as international a flavour as possible. In this edition we have articles on the right to be forgotten, INTERPOL silver notices, extradition, bribery and corruption investigations in Australia, and the recent work of the International Criminal Court. There should be something for everyone!

The ebulletin also includes a short welcome video from our Co-Chairs, Matt Kaiser and Sabine ten Doesschate, exploring what the Criminal Law Committee has in store for its members.

We hope to make this a regular endeavour and warmly welcome any contributions or ideas for future content: it is the membership that makes the ebulletin valuable and worthwhile.

For those attending the Transnational Crime Conference in Santiago in May: we look forward to seeing you there!

Best wishes,

Matt Kaiser
