Accession to the OECD prompts major amendments to banking laws in Costa Rica

As a result of Costa Rica’s accession to the OECD, the country has implemented wide-ranging financial legislation amendments, including strengthening the Costa Rican Central Bank’s independence, granting broader powers to financial supervisory authorities and establishing a deposit insurance scheme.
