A webinar presented by the IBA Litigation Committee and supported by the Arbitration Committee and the African Regional Forum
This webinar is aimed at those with business interests or intending to invest in the four main economies in the Southern African region (South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Mozambique), with an interest in gaining comfort that commercial disputes arising from those investments in those jurisdictions are capable of reliable dispute resolution and enforcement.
Further, it will provide some guidance as to what the requirements are for the enforcement of foreign arbitral awards and foreign judgments in each of the four jurisdictions.
The intention is to highlight for participants the fact that dispute resolution in these regions, whether it be by way of litigation or arbitration, largely follows the ‘traditional’ paths that are used in other jurisdictions such as the USA, UK or Europe.
We will also touch on investment protection in these Southern African countries, in so far as international trade treaties are relevant to the topic.
