Biography

Keith has over 7 years worked with different organisations both in a corporate and private practice setting and has handled several and diverse legal issues including but not limited to corporate, contractual, land-related, banking and finance, labour laws and taxation. Below are some of the notable projects. At Matrix Advocates, Keith has been engaged in advising clients on setting up. This involves incorporation requirements, licensing and general regulatory compliance. Keith has also advised on different governance structures for companies and assisted in formulating different policies related to human capital, branding, data privacy and tax planning. Keith has also relied on his Banking and finance experience to advise various Fintechs on proper financing options. While at Stanbic Bank Uganda, Keith was instrumental in providing the banking industry opinions during the drafting of the now National Payments System Act, he was equally instrumental in advising the Stanbic Group’s finech company on compliance under the same Act as part of his usual in-house counsel legal advisory. Keith has negotiated and and participated in the drafting of various escrow agreements for different Electronic Payments systems providers including Mobile Money companies. He has further advised on terms appropriate for the integration services between the Mobile Money companies, Banks and Aggregators through out the mobile money transactions value chain. Keith has also had exposure in Data Protection and Privacy where he assisted Stanbic bank Group in negotiating an intra-group data transfer and sharing agreement among the standard bank group subsidiaries and affiliates. This was a move to fill in the legislation gap before the enactment of the Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019. Keith further assisted in advising on the curation of various data elements into an easy and accessible data dictionary for the Bank while developing necessary Risk Management Plans for ensuring data protection for the Bank’s data universe. Keith also assisted in compliance to the Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019. In addition to that, Keith has participated in the development of the Transactional Products and Services template toolkit for the Standard Bank Group. This project was aimed at standardising contract templates used across the group in different jurisdictions. This specifically required us to identify generic terms that can be condensed into general terms and conditions and therefore suitable for deployment across the group in different countries but also cater for country specific nuances. The project enhanced standardisation of the Bank’s documents hence improving customer experience especially the multinational clients.
