Biography
William A Tanenbaum is a technology and IP partner and Chair of the AI & Data Department at Moses & Singer, a 100-year-old firm with its office in New York and departments in the major fields of law. His practice also focuses on privacy; cybersecurity; outsourcing; and US AI and other regulations. He is ranked each year in the top tiers in his fields at the Global and National levels by Chambers, Who's Who Legal/Lexology and Best Lawyers in America and named an "IP Star" and a "Life Sciences Star." He is a past President of the International Technology Law Association. US News & World Report has ranked him the "Lawyer of the Year" in IT in New York. He is a "Top 10 Pioneering Tech Lawyers Shaping NY's Legal Landscape" and the only one from a mid-market firm. • IBA: He advises IBA firms and their clients on doing business in the United States and on agreements with US companies. He also advises on the distinctive features of US IP and IT law. The Government of Finland and another country's sovereign wealth fund retained him. • Technology Law: Chambers recognizes William as a "prominent figure in technology and outsourcing" with "a solid national reputation" who is "well-recognized" for "successfully navigating negotiations," "making excellent judgment calls" and his "deft handling of commercial deals relating to cutting-edge technologies." • M&A: He handles the technology, IP, AI, and data aspects of M&A and other business transactions. He leads cross-disciplinary teams from Moses & Singer. William was the Chair of IP and Technology Transactions at a Wall Street firm. • AI and Data Law: Who's Who Legal/Lexology recognizes William as "a leading name in AI" and as only one of five US lawyers named as a "Thought Leader Global Elite Data Law Law." Chambers selected him as the first Editor of its Global Practice Guide to AI. • Healthcare: Chambers finds that his "technology approach and understanding of healthcare is a winning combination," including in AI. It chose him as the Editor of its "Global Practice Guide to Digital Healthcare." • Litigation: William "has strong litigation experience" with IP victories in the lower and appellate courts (Who's Who Legal/Lexology). He is a peer-elected member of the "List of the World's Leading Technology Neutrals [Arbitrators]" administered by the Silicon Valley Arbitration and Mediation Center.
