19 Feb 2025
Session information
Current trends and practices in international commercial arbitration
Wednesday 19 February (1130 - 1230)
Description
International arbitration cases submitted to various worldwide arbitration institutions are believed to have increased by to up fivefold in the past half century or so.
This was of course in large part due to the UN Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards (New York, 10 June 1958) which – amongst other things – simplified and streamlined the process of recognition and enforcement of foreign arbitral awards in contracting/convention/signatory states, however it is also the result of individual jurisdictions increased enhancement and infrastructure in supporting international commercial arbitration. In this session, our panel of arbitration/dispute resolution experts will delve into recent and current international commercial arbitration trends, cases and enforcement from the viewpoint of their respective jurisdictions of practice as well as provide useful insights into the handling of arbitration cases for newly qualified lawyers and more generally.Session / Workshop Chair(s)
