Odette Geldenhuys, a partner at leading South African law firm, Webber Wentzel and Co-Chair of the IBA's Pro Bono Committee, has an extensive professional background which encompasses a diverse range of legal and advocacy roles, with a strong focus on advancing public interest law and promoting access to justice. Her multifaceted career includes being an award-winning documentary filmmaker and television content producer.
Notably, in 2006, Odette made a significant impact by establishing South Africa's inaugural, and still only, pro bono clearinghouse, underscoring her commitment to proactively addressing legal disparities within her community. Prior to this groundbreaking endeavour, she played a pivotal role in implementing the Justice Centre model for Legal Aid South Africa, showcasing her leadership and innovation within the legal field.
