Daniel Beard
Biography
Daniel is widely regarded as a leading advocate in EU and competition law. He has appeared in a large number of cases in the EU Court of Justice and General Court . As well as competition, merger and State aid matters, Daniel has acted in cases ranging from terrorist sanctions to environmental obligations and from data privacy to equal treatment in insurance. Amongst cases he has recently acted in are: Apple/Ireland (State aid); Intel (abuse of dominance); and Illumina (merger control). In the UK he deals with a wide range of competition and regulatory/public law matters including numerous damages claims and appeals. These have recently included the trucks cartel litigation (including the first full trial heard in the UK) and Compare The Market (use of MFNs). He also acts in arbitrations and in various international jurisdictions including leading the first completed competition penalty case in Hong Kong. Daniel has won various awards for his work including Chambers and Partners EU and Competition Silk of the year and Legal 500 EU/Competition Silk of the Year. He is qualified in London and Dublin.
