Pooja Dela

Biography

Pooja specialises in all aspects of dispute resolution within the areas of administrative and constitutional law, corporate and commercial law, public procurement, business and human rights, the law on corruption and bribery, as well as mining and mineral law. Pooja is also an expert in media law and defamation, crisis and reputation management and data protection. She has been involved in various Constitutional Court proceedings and matters requiring legislative interpretation and government accountability. She has litigated at every level of the South African judiciary. Since 2023, she has been centrally involved in establishing the firm’s Business Human Rights (BHR) practice, following an instruction to conduct a comprehensive Human Rights Impact Assessment in support of the re-financing of a mining operation in the DRC. She has since led teams and advised on a number of BHR mandates. She has been recognised both internationally and domestically as a leader in Rule of Law litigation in South Africa. She has advised clients in the public and private sectors, including non-profit entities, and non-governmental organisations in a variety of fields including the broadcasting, transport, retail, construction, oil and gas, mining and aviation industries. Pooja spent a year at the Constitutional Court of South Africa as a clerk. Her expertise has been recognised by international research organisations including, most recently, by The Legal 500 (Dispute Resolution) and Best Lawyers (Litigation). She forms part of the public interest litigation team which is a market leader in the field.
