Donia El-Mazghouny
Biography
Donia is the founder and managing partner of Mazghouny & Co. Prior to launching the practice, Donia was a partner with tier 1 law firm in Cairo, where she headed the Energy & Projects team. She specialises in energy law, with a focus on energy and power agreements, and regularly advises clients on the development, financing and acquisition of energy and infrastructure projects in Egypt. She further advises on transactional matters, corporate and commercial agreements, joint ventures, corporate structuring, and labour matters notably in the energy and power, manufacturing and services fields. She holds an LL.M. in International Financial Law from King’s College London (UK), a Master in International and European Business Law from Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne University (France), and an LL.B. from Cairo University (IDAI). She is fluent in Arabic, English and French and speaks basic Italian. Donia is identified as an “Energy Expert” by Who’s Who Legal and recommended by Legal500 for Energy and Projects & Infrastructure. She is ranked as a “Leading Individual” and is “highly regarded for the financing and development of wind and solar power projects”, and a practitioner who “excels at integrating her deep knowledge of the sector into clear and practical advice for international investors”. She is also noted as “one of the best specialist partners in the energy sector”, and as a “talented partner”, who is “responsive and accurate” and “highly knowledgeable” in the field. She has been recently recognised as a “Notable Practitioner” by Chambers and Partners for her Projects & Energy work, with market sources commenting that “she is the face of the renewable energy business in Egypt”, adding that “she is a brilliant lawyer with a commercial mindset, who always goes above and beyond what is expected to support her clients”.
