Biography

Ms. Mercedes Benítez del Castillo Sánchez holds a Bachelor's degree in law and a Master's degree in Community law from CEU San Pablo University of Madrid (1987-1992). She also completed an MBA in Economy and Business Administration from IESE Business School, Graduate Center of Universiy of Navarra (1992-1994). She started her professional career in 1994 as a marketing executive at the OTC division of "Cusí Laboratories". In 1996, she moved to the pharmaceutical company "Sanofi Synthelabo", where she took on various roles of responsibility, including Marketing Director of the OTC division. She joined "Laboratorios Farmacéuticos Rovi SA" (ROVI) in 2002, first as a member of the Business Development team and then as the Head of the International Department, where she contributed to the development and implementation of business strategies for various Rovi products in the global market. Since 2007, she has been the Legal Director of ROVI, and has been involved in the main company projects, such as Rovi's IPO, the acquisition of two manufacturing plants in Madrid, and the legal aspects and negotiations of important strategic alliances for Rovi, such as the agreements for the production of the Covid-19 vaccine. She also teaches at the University Carlos III in the Master's Degree in Corporate Legal Counsel and the Diploma of Expert in Corporate Law and Legal Risk Company Control. She participates in different events and forums and is a member of the jury of prestigious legal awards. She is member of the Madrid Bar Association (ICAM) and speaks English and French fluently.
