Biography

Sameer began his legal training at Linklaters LLP in London and Hong Kong. He qualified into the mainstream corporate team in London and advised on a range matters including public and private M&A, private equity, intragroup restructurings, joint ventures and equities. Sameer is currently the Group Company Secretary and General Counsel of OneWeb which is part of the Eutelsat group. He has been integral to OneWeb's ambitious and pioneering project involving building and deploying the world’s first global satellite communications network to deliver global internet connectivity services to people and businesses everywhere around the world. Sameer successfully led a sale process to take OneWeb out of Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2020, completing the acquisition of its entire share capital by a consortium formed between Bharti Global Limited and the United Kingdom Secretary of State Department for Science, Innovation and Technology. He was recognised for this achievement by being named as one The Lawyer’s “Hot 100” in 2021. More recently, Sameer led and successfully completed a US$6.8bn merger with French satellite operator, Eutelsat Communications SA and listed the new combined group to the London Stock Exchange.
