Biography

Gonzalo López-Barajas is currently Head of Corporate Regulation unit at Telefonica SA, assuming his role in January 2024. Joining Telefonica in 1999, he has worked in Telefonica in different positions starting in Marketing and Operations at Telefonica España and then moving to Investor Relations (IR) for a 10 year period; this latest experience drove him to lead IR at Atento and its IPO process in 2011. In 2012 he joined Telefonica Europe as head of Regulatory Affairs, to be followed by a 9 year period as Public Policy and Internet manager at Telefonica where defining Telefonica's public positioning for economic / commercial Internet related issues from where engaging as company representative with international organizations such as OECD and ICC. In 2022 he move to Corporate Regulation team to lead the Fair Share initiative at Telefonica, becoming Head of the regulation unit in January 2024. Gonzalo is Telecommunications engineer by Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, CEFA (Certified European Financial Analyst) by FEF (Fundacion Estudios Financieros), and holds a master degree in Business Management by ESADE business school. He also is a Web 3 Certified professional by Cryptoplaza.
