Nick Leddy

Biography

Nick is an experienced trial lawyer in both domestic and international courts, and a recognized expert in international criminal investigations. As Head of Litigation at Legal Action Worldwide (LAW), Nick manages teams investigating and litigating on behalf of survivors of international crimes and human rights violations in East Africa, Ukraine, the Middle East, and South Asia. Prior to joining LAW, Nick was a Trial Lawyer for the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), where he investigated and prosecuted war crimes and crimes against humanity in in Sub-Saharan Africa, Ukraine, and Myanmar/Bangladesh. He also worked for many years as a prosecutor in New York City on cases involving gender-based violence, corruption, and police brutality. He has also worked for the Public International Law and Policy Group (PILPG), the War Crimes Research Office (WCRO), and served as a member of the Editorial Committee of the Journal of International Criminal Justice (Oxford UP) for ten years. He has published on topics of international law, criminal law, human rights, and LGBTIQ+ rights. He is a member of the New York Bar as well as the ICC List of Counsel, where he now serves as Legal Representative of Victims and Duty Counsel.
