Biography

Admitted to practice in both Brazil and California, Maria Bofill is a Corporate and M&A Partner at TozziniFreire Advogados in Brazil. With over two decades of experience, she has led some of the largest M&A transactions in Southern Brazil, while also bridging innovation ecosystems with major venture capital funds and corporate ventures. She worked as a permanent associate in the M&A team at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP in Los Angeles and clerked for a judge at the Superior Court of California. Maria serves as Vice Chair of the International M&A/JV Committee of the American Bar Association (ABA) and holds board positions in technology companies. She earned her LL.B. from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul and her LL.M. from the University of California, Berkeley (Class of '07). Maria is a lecturer in advanced legal studies courses and the coauthor of several books on Corporate Law. Maria has been consistently ranked by leading international guides, including Chambers, Legal 500, Leaders League, and Expert Guides. She has also been shortlisted for prestigious awards, such as M&A Lawyer of the Year for the Americas by the Euromoney Women in Business Law Awards and the IFLR Rising Stars Awards Americas. In 2024, she earned recognition as "Lawyer of the Year" by the Latin American Lawyer Women Awards.
