Biography

Alex Pessó has served as Microsoft’s Legal Director and Corporate Affairs Manager for Chile since March 2006 and assumed the role of Corporate Affairs Manager for Microsoft Perú in November 2023. In these positions, he oversees commercial transactions, manages the corporate affairs department and philanthropic initiatives in Chile and Perú. A strategic expert and influential voice in public policymaking, he actively engages with parliamentarians and policymakers, monitors legislative developments, and participates in high-level discussions on topics such as AI, Privacy, and Cybersecurity. For the past decade, Alex has been member of the legal group at ACTI (Asociación Chilena de Tecnologías de la Información), where he represents the ICT industry’s interests before policymakers and key stakeholders. From 1999 to 2006, he served as a Senior Attorney and Deputy Director at Chilecompra, specializing in government, constitutional, and procurement law. Additionally, from 2000 to 2002, Alex was a legal advisor to the Ministry of Finance, representing the ministry before the Chilean Congress. Alex holds a master’s degree in Constitutional Law from Universidad Católica de Chile (1999) and a law degree from Universidad de Chile (1995). From 2011 to 2016, he was the Academic Coordinator of the Technology and Law Center at Universidad de Chile’s Faculty of Law. Currently, he is an invited professor at the Catholic University Faculty of Law, where he teaches diploma courses on privacy and AI.
