Maria Morena Del Rio

Biography

Maria Morena joined Allende & Brea in 2003 and headed the department of administrative and environmental law. She was named partner of the firm in December 2006 and is a member of the Bar Association of the City of Buenos Aires. In 1995 she graduated as a lawyer from the School of Law of “Universidad Nacional de La Plata.” In 1996 she attended the Training Program for Lawyers organized by FORES and won the Award grant-ed by the Bank Boston Foundation. In 1998 she gained a Magisteraster's Degree in Administrative Law from Universidad Austral. In 2020 she obtained a Post Magister’s Degree in Administrative Law from Universidad Austral. She is currently professor of Administrative Law at the Universidad Nacional de Buenos Aires (UBA) and at the Universidad de Palermo (UP). She has published academic papers and has been invited to speak in conferences on administrative and environmental law matters. Morena’s practice covers regulatory, infrastructure, and environmental matters focus on governance, environment, and sustainability. Her regulatory and administrative law practice includes bids and public contracts, administrative procedures, administrative processes, claims against the Administration, defense in punitive proceedings, regulatory advice, and consumer defense. In addition, she has been actively involved in matters regarding works and infrastructure in general, for the sectors of transportation, drinking water, sanitation, communications, broadcasting, postal service, pow-er, hydrocarbons, and industries in general. Regarding environmental matters, her practice is focused on providing comprehensive advice on industrial settlement, expansion of establishments, reconversion of activities, application for and handling of authorizations or permits, and individual or collective environmental litigation. She has been an outstanding practitioner in Administrative and Environmental Law by well-known international publications such as Chambers & Partners Latin America, The Legal 500 Latin America, and Latin Lawyer 250.
