Dominique Hogan-Doran SC

Biography

Dominique Hogan-Doran SC is a barrister and Senior Counsel of the Australian Bar based in Sydney. Dominique is Chair of the IBA Bar Issues Commission's Regulation Committee and Vice-Chair of the IBA's Forum for Barristers and Advocates. She is a past Chair of the Australian Bar Association's Practice Development Committee and Futures Committee. Dominique is also a past President of Australian Women Lawyers and of the Women Lawyers Association of New South Wales. Dominique conducts a national litigation practice in commercial and regulatory law, as well as appearing in high profile Royal Commissions and public inquiries. She was Senior Counsel Assisting the Royal Commission into National Natural Disaster Arrangements following the 2019/2020 catastrophic bushfire season, and appeared for the Commonwealth of Australia in the Royal Commission into the 'Robodebt' Scheme which investigated the Commonwealth's $1.8 billion illegal welfare debt recovery scheme. Dominique also acts as an accredited mediator, arbitrator, and expert determiner of complex commercial and financial disputes, and has served on the Disciplinary Tribunal for Chartered Accountants Australia New Zealand. Outside the law, Dominique is a non-executive director of Natural Hazards Research Australia, Australia's centre for natural hazard research and disaster risk reduction, and is a member of the Board of Management of Australian Cricket's Retirement Fund and its new Players Cordon charity.
