Valerie Johnston

Biography

Valerie is a Legal Officer with the FAO Development Law Service, which provides legislative support to FAO Members, undertakes legal research and collects national laws and policies on food and agriculture in its dedicated legal database (FAOLEX.org). Valerie graduated in Political Science from McGill University in her native Canada and then in English and French Law from the London School of Economics, followed by an LLM in environmental law. She worked for many years as an employment and administrative lawyer but returned to her original passion in 2017 when she joined the Development Law Service in FAO. She leads legal advice and research in the areas of climate change, water resources, biodiversity and responsible investment in agriculture.
