Biography

Peter Appel is partner of Gorrissen Federspiel. He heads the firm’s shipping practice. He is born 1961. Master’s Degree in Law, University of Copenhagen, 1985. Special degree in maritime law, Nordic Institute for Maritime Law, University of Oslo, 1985. Master of Laws (LL.M.) at London School of Economics, London University, 1990. Admitted to the Supreme Court of Denmark, 1996. Lecturer in maritime law, A.P. Møller Shipping School. Assistant professor in international trade law, Copenhagen Business School. Former chairman of the IBA Maritime and Transport Law Committee. Former Chairman of the Danish branch of Comité Maritime International. Member of the Danish Maritime Law Committee under the Ministry of Industry, Business and Financial Affairs, Member of the Industry Advisory Group for “Blue” Board Leadership Training Programme, Copenhagen Business School, Member of advisory panel at the University of Copenhagen – Legal implications of the green transition in shipping and Council member of the Scandinavian Institute of Maritime Law, University of Oslo. Chairman of BIMCO Informatique A/S as well as chairman/member of numerous other boards of directors.
