Luc Frieden

Biography

Luc FRIEDEN is an attorney and is a partner with the Luxembourg law firm Elvinger Hoss. From 1998 to 2013, Luc FRIEDEN served in successive Luxembourg Governments as Minister of Justice, Treasury and Finance. He was a member of the Eurogroup and the European Council of Ministers of Justice and Finance. In 2013, he was Chairman of the Board of Governors of the IMF and the World Bank. Luc FRIEDEN is also Chairman of the Board of Banque Internationale BIL, Luxembourg’s oldest bank. He has been a visiting professor and regularly lectures at the University of St Gallen, Switzerland. He graduated in law from the Universities of Paris Sorbonne, Cambridge and Harvard Law School.
