Oliver Draf
Biography
Oliver Draf serves as Chief Privacy Officer of Allianz Germany Group. Oliver has read law at the university’s of Passau and Freiburg. After clerking in Munich, he completed a Ph.D. thesis on the provisions for international transfers of personal data in the EU Data Protection Directive of 1995 at the university of Marburg. Oliver moved on to McGill university in Montreal to take a Master’s degree in Comparative law. He is pursuing his academic interests by publishing on a variety of privacy topics as well as serving on the board of advisors for the Journal of Data Protection in Munich. In addition, he is presenting at privacy conferences both in Germany and Europe. After two years in private practice he joined Allianz to start their international privacy program in 2001. In 2004 he became head of privacy at Allianz’ German operations. Representing Allianz with the German Insurance Association, Oliver negotiated the Code of Conduct for the processing of personal information in the German insurance industry.
