Melanie Thill-Tayara

Biography

Melanie Thill-Tayara focuses on antitrust and competition law. She regularly assists clients on e-commerce issues or on the legality of commercial strategies and rebates to ensure their compliance with competition law. Noted as a strong litigator whose “advice is invaluable [and] always technically accurate,” she has been involved in landmark cases involving essential facilities, information exchange systems, selective distribution networks and dominance abuses in various sectors. With significant experience in the life sciences, pharmaceutical and biotech industries, she also counsels clients on issues pertaining to sectors such as consumer goods, luxury goods and leisure, financial services, transport, technology goods, chemicals and press distribution. She also has substantial experience on internal audits, compliance programs, mock dawn raid operations and competition law employee trainings, and regularly advises clients involved in inspections conducted by the authorities and the subsequent challenges. She also represents leading companies in merger notifications before the French and European regulators and coordinates multi-jurisdictional filings. Melanie Thill-Tayara is a frequent speaker on antitrust and competition law issues and also recently wrote an article on competition law applied to e-commerce and market places for the French review Actualité Juridique des Contrats d’Affaires. Prior to Dechert, she served as a partner for more than 20 years with two other international law firms. Before that, she was an officer at the European Commission, DG COMP, where she participated in numerous dawn raid operations and contributed to several decisions.
