Biography

Mario Barros joined the firm in 1996 and he became a partner in 2008. He is based in the Madrid office of Uría Menéndez. Mario has a Degree in Law, Universidad de Salamanca, and a Master’s Degree in Labor and Employment Law, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. He was a guest student at the Stiftung Maximilianeum, Ludwig Maximiliam Universität, Munich. He has an extensive experience in collective labour matters (redundancies, bargaining negotiation, etc.). He assists in the negotiation, drafting and termination of employment contracts, especially for senior executives, remuneration systems, as well as on transactional labour law issues (mergers, acquisitions, corporate restructurings) and outsourcing. A substantial part of Mario’s practice involves advising clients on employment disputes, representing them in judicial and extrajudicial settlement proceedings. Mario usually works for large financial, industry and services Spanish and international companies, as well as for prominent senior executives. He has published various dozens of legal articles and contributions to legal works. He was a part-time professor at the University Carlos III in Madrid. At present he teaches at ICADE and Instituto de Empresa. Mario is recognized as an expert in the labour and employment field by the most reputed legal directories (Chambers, Who´s Who Legal, Best Lawyers).
