Biography

Nicola trained at Theodore Goddard (now Addleshaws) in London and worked at Mishcon de Reya and Mundays before joining Stevens & Bolton LLP in 2011 as a commercial partner and head of franchising and the retail sector group. She has particular expertise advising on international expansion through franchising and distribution as well as advising retailers on general commercial and consumer law issues. Nicola speaks at numerous specialist franchise seminars and exhibitions and writes for leading trade journals such as Drapers and Franchise World. She is the firm's designated representative for the British Franchise Association, and serves on its Quality Standards Committee advising on compliance issues and best practice in franchising. She is also a member of the American Bar Association’s Franchise Forum and its International Contracts Committee as well as the IBA Franchising Committee. She has been ranked internationally as a leading franchise lawyer in Who’s Who Legal: Franchise since 2014 and as a leading transactional trade mark lawyer in the World Trade Mark Review since 2015. She is an acknowledged industry expert in franchising consistently ranked in the top band for franchising UK-wide by Chambers UK. She is also listed as a leading individual for franchising in The Legal 500 and in the World Trademark Review 1000 – The World’s Leading Trademark Professionals 2019.
